About New Zealanders....

I've been in NZ for 4 months. I've met a lot of New Zealanders. I'd like to talk to how I feel about New Zealand people.
Generally, they are so kind and friendly and they enjoy their life style. I think most of them are more diligent than Koreans. They usually go to bed early and get up early. At the weekend, they enjoy their hobbies such as cycling, hiking and fishing. I don't know about New Zealander exactly, so I don't know their mind. I've just felt that they are very social and they love their nature and lives. They've tried for the high quality of life. I like New Zealanders.
I'd like to know more about them.

Che-Ju Island

I'd like to recommend a beautiful island which located in the southwest sea of Korea. The island's name is Che-Ju, the biggest island in Korea. Cheju is a good place that the newly-married couples go on the honeymoon. And as the proverb says Cheju has many 'three things' more than any other country. 'Women,wind,stones' is three things. The reason of proverb is interesting. The reason why Cheju has many 'three things' is as following. In the days long-ago, so many men were fishing than farming. But they often met storms at sea. Then the ship was wrecked in a terrible storm so they lost their lives in the storm. So there were more women than men. But it doesn`t happen now.
Cheju's scenery is quite similar to NZ's scenery such as beaches, trees, sky. Because Cheju island is made from volcano. So I think Cheju's beaches are very similar to Phia or Muriwai beach. I really like beautiful places. I can show you the pictures.

My topic is when I won a billiards competition. Also my proudest moment was when I won a billiards competition in Seoul 3 years ago. I learned the billiards for the first time 10 years ago. I have loved billiards and I enjoyed play billiards. when I was 24 years old, I participated in the billiards competition. There were many people. Maybe, I think there were about nearly a hundred people in the place. I felt very nervous and fearful, but many friends came to there to support me, so I could obtain force. I played 6 games in total. Even though I was nervous, I played very well.
So I became the champion and I received more than a thousand dollar into prize money, so I was very pleased and happy. I spent my money for my friends. I offered dinner and drink to my friends.
At the moment, I like playing the billiards too, but I couldn’t find a billiards club in NZ, so I play pool instead. I’d like to play billiards again.

When I was a child, my dream was to be the president of Korea. But this ambition was not very realistic because I was too young and I didn't know what a president was. I have had a lot of ambitions before, but now my dream is to be a parent. I want to be a father in a happy family.
And I want to be a good computer network manager. Also I'd like to go to Africa, India, Canada, the USA and China, because I heard someone, there are so beautiful place~.

I'd like to go to Queenstown in NZ on next holiday, because I never have been to there and I want to play bungy jumping. When I was 20 years ago, I watched bungy jumping in Queenstown on TV. I was very surprised and excited. This name is SHOTOVER CANYON SWING.The World’s Highest Swing at 109m/360ft above the famous Shotover River. I really want to go there.

A terrible experience

5 years ago, I have traveled in Europe for 63 days. The travel was my first travel and became the best experience in my life. That time, I have had many terrible remember. The most terrible happening was it which was stolen my bag in Rome, Italy.There were a lot of valuable in my bag; Passport, cash, check, flight ticket, etc. When I was stolen my bag, I was so confused and my tears flowed down. I have nothing. So, I stayed more weeks in Italy unavoidably. I took Travel Certification from embassy of Italy, and check and flight ticket reissued. First of all, it was hard to take back check again. When I received ’Thomas Cook Check’ after 2 weeks, I was very glad and happy, because I accomplished something by myself in the foreign country. Then I could travel again.
I think that this happening is the worst memory and the best experience in my life, so I’ll never forget it.

My name is Sung Hoon Kim, but I have chosen an English name.
It’s Shawn. I’m looking forward very much to learning English you this term. I come from South Korea. I’m 27 years ago. My birthday is on the 24th of January, 1978. I arrived in Auckland two weeks ago, so I have been interested in everything.

There are six in my family ; My grandmother, father, mother, two sisters and me. My grandmother, parents and older sister live in Korea, but my younger sister lives here. Her name is Mi Ju and she is also going to school at Unitec. We live in Kodesh in Avondale which is a Christian community.
My hobbies are surfing the internet and playing billiards. But I haven't got a computer and there isn't a billiard club here, so I'm very bored in my free time. I like sports such as basketball, table tennis, soccer, baseball,,, very much. I often play them. Some of my other interests are watching movies, reading, listening to music and travel. I want to speak English very well. I came here to learn English for six months. However if I can speak English very well, I want to live a bit longer in New Zealand. I desire to study computer network programming, so I want to be a computer network manager in NZ.

I will study very hard.

My first overseas trip

I went on backpacking to Europe 4 years ago. I travelled 17 countries of Europe during 2 months. The countries that I travelled were England, France, Germany, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Hungary, Switzerland, Czech, Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal and Austria.
I met many foreigner friends, and accumulated a lot of good experience. I was very hard as it is soloing travel, but it was as good experience as is hard. That time was happiest time of my life. I don't forget that time yet. I want to go there again.
